JULIACKS tells stories using the mediums of multi-media performance installations and comics. My stories are about loss through transformation, where the psychology of the character is represented in the physical world. My performances are inspired from elements of my graphic novels that provoke a question. These stories touch upon social and cultural issues such as the loss of memory, the denial of death and emotions of grief, the plight of those afflicted with nerve degenerative disorders, and the role of the elderly in a changing society.
JULIACKS current projects are
1) Fulbright Fellowship in Finland-yearlong project
2) the production of a three-part graphic novel and derivative performances. The comic, Swell tells the story of Emmeline Grouse and her family in the midst of grief for Lucy, the sister and daughter of the family who has recently died. In conjunction with a final performance-Tomb and the Merging of the Deathless with Director Kathleen Amshoff.
3)Inner Tube productions is working on a site specific project to happen in Portland in September 2010. Lookout!
